Its over! Rat Pack was extremely tight this year, with some amazing races, a lot of amazing racers, a bunch of new friends, good photos and some great prizes from Mishka, Trackstar, Continuum and JustinTalent.

I personally had an amazing time this year, and my only regret is COMPLETELY overbooking myself between working too many hours and takin' an illustration class. Rat Pack had to play second fiddle to a lot of serious business, and for that, i wholeheartedly apologize.

Anyway, i'm gonna do this bit by bit, because we have a lotta times from the last two nights to put up, final standings, some sweet video from Alan of CyclingWMD fame, and god damn it, I am still hellbent on getting these shirts made!. Click the image to see this full sized.

Sorry folks, I know its rather last minute, but I've been steadily feeling worse as this day's worn on, and i'm pretty sure i'm gonna barf all over the place en route to harlem tonight.

and quite frankly, after Bike Kill this past saturday, being hunched over a bike, throwing up in the gutter in the pouring rain is not particularly how i wanna spend my night.

Basically, I've been working too much, and its taking its toll on me, so in turn I'm taking it out on you. One day you'll forgive me.

We're on next week. I'll make it up to you, i swear!

ITS ON TONIGHT!

Tonight makes the sixth night of Rat Pack sprints after taking last Monday off for Columbus Day. ...also, i was still on a bus coming back from Boston by the time we woulda got started. sorry!

Remember its gettin' colder out at night these days, but we handled it well last year and we'll do so again this year. Just dress warm!

The weather is gettin' colder out at night, and everyone's times dipped a little because of it. I was on week two of a three week (and counting) headcold, so my organization skills were pretty off, but thanks to everyone who came out and raced, as well as everyone who volunteered to help out with stopwatches and starting countdowns.

Also, I'm trying to get ahold of Jason at TeamScreen to get some shirts printed up. I have to go over the linework one last time, but i'm really, really pleased with how its looking right now. Here's the rough draft, sans frame and banner.

The final version has no less than thirteen rats in the image. I'm really excited to finally get these underway!

my white Waterford lugged 853 road bike was stolen out of my office building today at about noon.

so! this brings the total over the past five months up to 2 broken collarbones, one stolen front wheel, one fucked up fork, one broken set of road bars, one stolen rear light, one broken rear wheel, one completely destroyed bike and one complete stolen bike.

Last night's matches went very smoothly, and we've got a healthy mix of old faces and new riders each week, which i'm more than happy with. Daniel once again managed to post the same exact time for both of his heats, which is getting a little creepy, and we had three first timers qualify for the semi finals, with the whole night going to Kennedy, who overcame some hefty competition from Alex, Jody and fellow newcomer Massan who all posted times under 21 seconds.

Week II is another success!

last night was a blast. A few more new faces showed up, Alan's photography got a little more sophisticated, and we even had a few casual spectators (which i wholeheartedly welcome). Jody brought along a wheeled distance measurement device ...thing, and figured out that we're actually racing a distance of around 786 feet, which puts us approximately 240 meters. excellent!

FIRST NIGHT BACK IS A SUCCESS!!!

So, last night marked the first night of the second year of the Rat Pack, and it went amazingly well. We had 15 riders come out, including a few new faces, and it was incredible to see how hard people were pushing themselves out there. There were some incredibly close matches, some strong competitors, a lot of determination and a lot of high fives.

So!

Its been 8 months since anything has been updated here, which is a damned shame, because those 8 months have been incredibly busy. Highlights include;

Mattio of Wreckstuff fame devouring people in his first season out at the Kissena Twilight Series.

The tremendously infamous Randall's Island Tracklocross series.

Me breakin' a couple collarbones.

...and me tryin' to get some sort of website built for myself that i will shamelessly self promote in the near future.

Now! Last year's Rat Pack Hustle went off way better than i ever could have imagined and everyone that came out and raced deserves another pat on the back for making this the gritty and self abusive party that it was. The Rat Pack sprints were an exhausting endeavor, and I apologize for lettin' the blog drop off like i did once it ended. I appreciate everybody being patient during the subsequent downtime.

SO LET'S DO IT AGAIN! MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH, THE RAT PACK'S REVENGE SPRINT SERIES BEGINS!

Since alex and john were so closely matched, a challenge was thrown up and accepted. the two went head to head for the 6th seat in the semi finals, first the cross the line takes it. after some serious mashing on both parts, john managed to pull ahead and take the win, moving on toward the rest of the night. however, i owe alex a beer for thinking his name was pete all night. i mean, i'm really awful with names, no doubt about that, but i think i called him "pete" like six times. i make no claims that i'm not a jerk.

Anyway! Before the semi finals we threw out the weekly curve ball which shall now be the standard!

BEER SPRINTS!!!

Three teams of four going relay style from the start to a can of cheap, cheap beer and then back. I think i had more fun watching this than you all did racing it. Jeremy, Cosme, Lawrence and Daniel proved themselves the victors as "Team Grape Slushies". we're certainly doing this again next monday.

The distance has been changed! I didn't really bother to measure it out. Yeah. Guess who's lazy over here. I was shooting for somewhere in the 250-300m range. Who knows what it really is!

Cosme and Nikola had a damned impressive neck 'n neck finish, but we had Nikola clocked at 1/100th of a second ahead, and awarded him third place for the night.

Jeremy and Brantley put in blazingly fast times - fast enough to claim the two fastest times of the series and take 2nd and 1st for the night respectively. After their semifinal round, it was decided that a finals round wasn't really necessary, and damn it, it got really cold out.
